Prologue Foundation is the fundraising arm of Prologue. It exists to raise monies to expand the services and to increase the quality of life for the individuals served by Prologue. Some of the fundraising activities undertaken by the Foundation include a bull roast and golf tournament, plus an annual mailing campaign. Among the benefits afforded to persons served by Prologue through the Foundation are dental and vision care not covered by insurance, payments of security deposits to secure a lease for housing and special activities not covered by other funding.
First Journey is a community housing development entity that seeks state and federal funds to purchase residences for individuals with low income, including the persons served in Prologue’s residential program. First Journey has accessed financing through low interest loans to purchase homes; such means have lowered the cost of providing housing to individuals who would not otherwise have the opportunity to live in houses rather than apartments.
Rivendell Homes was established through Prologue’s first HUD 811 grant. It includes seven properties that were renovated: four serving the Baltimore County residential Program clients and three for Supportive Housing clients. Prologue qualifies for rental subsidies from HUD to operate these units, so the residents pay rents based upon their income, thus promoting affordable housing opportunities for individuals with limited incomes.
The Shire is another corporation established with HUD 811 funds. It holds title to seven residential sites in Baltimore County. Three are part of the Baltimore County Residential Program and four are part of the Supportive Housing Program. Residents of the Shire pay low rents subsidized by HUD.
Lorien Homes is a HUD funded project that includes three homes in the Baltimore County Residential Program and one additional condominium unit in our Supportive Housing Program.
Ohana Homes is the newest project in our HUD funded housing options with funding expected in 2007. Renovations will be made to one home located in Carroll County to accommodate handicapped tenants. Another four-person group home will receive funding to update the heating and electrical systems.
